Throughout the Alpine Pacific Touring Route are all the services you need on your vacation. Small towns will have dairies and service stations, while larger towns have supermarkets, medical centres, visitor information centres and other shopping.  

There are unique art and craft shops and galleries featuring work of local artists.  

Museums are scattered throughout the district and are well worth visiting to learn about the colourful characters, Maori and European, who helped build and shape the villages, farmlands, travel routes and seaside settlements.
