The Hurunui District is serviced by five Medical-Centres.

Three of these, at Cheviot, Rotherham and Waikari are owned by the Hurunui District Council, as well as the medical practitioners' residences at Cheviot, Rotherham and Hanmer Springs. Council has a practice of providing up to $150,000 for the provision of medical buildings funded from the district rate with the balance funded from the ward(s) for the community served.

There is a vacancy for the General Practice in our small rural township as the current GP, Dr Richard McCubbin, intends to leave the practice by 1/8/09. We are now looking for interested applicants to either buy the Practice or possibly, working in a salaried position with a local Community Trust owning the business. At this stage, there are options and we welcome any enquiries.
